Can you explain to me a little bit better. I never played RPG forum games, so I am not sure what you mean.

Basically in SETTING mode people contribute to building an alternate world together. STORY mode someone begins a story and people post to chime in. My thought is making it where it can be over the top like a platform game where you go through obstacles other people set. And you fight monsters and steal their weapons and magic

I am not familiar with this genre so it is hard for me to grasp the concept of such games.
For example, I play online RPG's and they have the based storyline made by programmers, a vast world with default quests but never with your own choice.

It allows for people to get creative with it the more over the top the better

Ye, ye. Got that. I recall long time ago there was a rpg forum where you went to harry potter world. You went to ceremony of joining house and then from first grade up. You had classes, lessons, common rooms, points for your house. After finishing school you can choose a carrier. Briliant idea.

There are lots of Harry Potter RP forums out there never really got into the series

So, after reading all the information, I believe I know what you are talking about since that is all I did while being on Forumotion. I run a D&D forum if that is what you are talking about.

I am. But I got tired of RP’s that were always the same themes. I might go with having the story mode set up as a text based platform game which I never seen anyone do before.

So what mechanics would be there?

It would go Scene by scene instead of one long story. The person who starts the thread creates an opening for the scene and an obstacle is made for the next person. You can play as the Kellvin or characters from Helluva boss and Satellite City. The obstacles include monsters that whoever defeats them can steal their weapons and magic
